be quiet! Dark Power 14 850W ATX v3.1 PSU Review

Average Noise

The PSU’s average noise output is extremely low. While the Dark Power 13 of similar capacity was already quiet, the new model operates in complete silence.

The fan remains in passive mode for an extended period. While CWT platforms are typically sensitive to minor-rail loading, fan noise in this case never exceeds 10 dBA, even with a combined 120 W load on the minor rails and up to 590W on the 12V rail. The PSU stays completely silent up to approximately 675W on the 12V rail; beyond that, fan noise increases to 15-20 dBA, which is still pretty low.

At 230V, the fan speed profile is similar to that of 115V input.

  1. Leakage current graph is for the 1000W models so wrong graph used here, too bad your graphs don’t include Pure Power 13 M , that model seems to be a better value and maybe better unit than this.
BQ can snatch loyal Seasonic and Corsair users with these 2025 models, good job from them. Thanks for the review!

Do you think that the Dark Power 14 worth the premium over the Pure Power 13 M?

    1. …in addition, Pure Power has more compact dimensions 160 vs 175 (Dark Power) and fits into e.g. Lancool 207, or Sugo 14, while Dark Power does not 😉
