be quiet! Dark Power 14 1200W ATX v3.1 PSU Review

Average Noise

The PSU’s average noise output is low.

The fan’s passive operation lasts for a long time. Typically, a CWT platform is affected by load on the minor rails, but the fan’s noise never gets high, even with combined loads above 90W on the minor rails. Up to around 950W at 12V, the PSU is dead silent, but at higher than that loads, its fan quickly picks up the pace and noise exceeds 30 dBA for prolonged operation periods, in an effort to remove the heat out of the PSU’s internals.

At 230V, the 30-35 dBA range is restricted, compared to 115V input.

  1. Oh, good timing for this review ;-). Managed to order this psu, for 250€ @Alternate.
It will replace my older BQ DP 12 850W, for more future proof.
