ASRock SL-1200G 1200W ATX v3.1 PSU Review

Hold Up Time

The hold-up time is low compared to similar-capacity offerings. It might be longer than 12ms, which is what the ATX v3.1 spec requires, but this is too low in my book.

Inrush Current

The inrush currents are low.

Leakage Current

Leakage current refers to the small amount of current that flows through an insulating material or a semiconductor device when it is ideally supposed to be non-conductive. It is typically seen in electronics, such as transistors, capacitors, and insulators, where the current leaks due to imperfections or unintended pathways, even when the device is “off.”

Leakage current in power circuits is an alternating current flowing through the earthing conductor caused mainly by the EMC filter’s Y capacitors (Cy). The more Y capacitors, the higher the leakage current can be!

The IEC 62368-1, which replaces the IEC 60950 OFF (Office Equipment) and IEC 60065 TRON (Electronics, entertainment), defines the limits for maximum leakage (touch) current.

  • Normal Condition: Maximum touch current = 3.5 mA
  • Single Fault Condition: Maximum touch current = 10 mA

The leakage current is low.

Timings

The PSU supports Alternative Low Power Modes.

  1. Aris would u update Gamemax Lioncore 1000/1200P series, i’ve seen they just had cybenetics platinum ratings

    1. I will review them at some point. Their OEM is doing some serious effort to improve, and I try to help them (as I do with all the other OEMs who send me products for testing)

  2. Love your work but could you in future articles explain every test with simple explanation? I always forget what’s what and have to go to your Tom’s HW reviews to check 😀
For example from the Hold up time segment there: “Put simply; hold-up time is the amount of time that the system can continue to run without shutting down or rebooting during a power interruption.”

If you could mention briefly at the beginning of each test that would be great. If it’s not hassle to paste it every time of course 🙂

I’m still rocking a 2019 Seasonic Focus GX which I picked based on Jonny Guru’s review and I’m afraid that it will die soon so started my research and I’m glad to see that there is a new Guru in the PSU review space so thank you for your work.
Also, your reviews now made me hesitant to buy Seasonic when the time is here lol hopefully they are still reliable even though they are now midrange in these tests
