TerraMaster D1 SSD Plus 40Gbps NVMe Enclosure Review

Everyday Use & Compatibility

The plug-and-play setup is instant: no drivers, no tinkering. In testing, the enclosure worked seamlessly with:

  • macOS Sonoma and Sequoia (including boot drive functionality)
  • Windows 11 24H2+
  • Linux (Ubuntu and Fedora)
  • PlayStation 5 (recognized instantly as extended storage)

Its wide compatibility stems from USB4 + Thunderbolt certification, ensuring it works today and tomorrow. Even if you downgrade to a USB 3.2 port, it will still function, albeit at reduced speeds.

One limitation: the included 32.5 cm USB4 cable is great for laptops, but desktop users may need to buy a longer certified cable.
