TerraMaster D1 SSD Plus 40Gbps NVMe Enclosure Review

Box & Bundle

The package is unusually generous:

  • enclosure, certified USB4 cable (32.5 cm)
  • screwdriver
  • spare thermal pad
  • user guides
  • a soft carrying pouch (something many competitors skip)

Design & Build Quality

Most M.2 enclosures look and feel like afterthoughts: thin aluminum shells or worse, plastic cases that heat up like ovens. TerraMaster has gone the opposite way.

The D1 SSD Plus is carved from a solid block of aerospace-grade aluminum, with deep cooling fins and carefully milled edges that give it an industrial yet premium aesthetic. At 246 grams, it’s heavier than many alternatives, but that’s actually reassuring; the extra mass helps dissipate heat and underscores its durability.

The body is fanless, relying entirely on passive cooling.

Inside, the SSD is sandwiched against a pre-installed thermal pad that presses it firmly against the heatsink body. Even under long, sustained workloads, the enclosure never rattles or flexes.

Add in the shock-absorbing silicone feet, and the D1 feels like a product built for professionals who need both speed and reliability on the move.
