Logitech G515 Lightspeed TKL Wireless Keyboard Review

A Closer Look

As I mentioned in the introduction, the G515 Lightspeed TKL has a low profile, a 1.3mm actuation distance, an essential travel of 3.2mm, and an actuation force of 45 grams. It can be used as a wireless or wired keyboard.

Its dimensions are 368mm wide, 150mm deep, and 22mm thick at its maximum point, including the keys. Its construction is made of good-quality plastic to limit the cost and its weight, which is already enough at 880gr. The volume roller and the special multimedia keys are absent from its design.

The G515 TKL stands out with its sleek, matte black finish and a design that omits the NUM keys, as indicated by the TKL label. The keys, crafted from double-shot PBT, are enhanced with vibrant RGB lighting. The keyboard is equipped with GL mechanical switches, which come factory-lubed for a smooth typing experience.

There are no dedicated media keys, but seven Fn keys have also been marked as media keys.

The G515 Lightspeed offers three versatile connectivity options: LIGHTSPEED wireless, Bluetooth, and wired data. The corresponding buttons are conveniently located on the upper part of the keyboard’s border. These buttons include the LIGHTSPEED wireless button, the Bluetooth button, and the Game Mode button (which deactivates certain keys).

Two LED indicators for Caps Lock and battery status are on the keyboard’s top-right side.

The USB-C port is housed on the back side of the top rim from where you connect the included 1.8m rubber cable to use the G515 as a wired keyboard or just for charging. A USB extender is also included.

On the right side is one slider with no indication of what it is for, and it is for power on/off the keyboard.

Under the G515 Lightspeed and inside a cavity, we locate the 2:1 dongle.

Using G Hub with a 1,000 Hz wireless polling rate, you can pair it with up to two compatible Lightspeed devices (for example this keyboard and a mouse or a headset). However, I could not connect the G515 Lightspeed to multiple devices simultaneously with Bluetooth.

Despite being a mechanical keyboard, the G515 Lightspeed promises a quiet typing experience thanks to its sound-dampening layered construction. The low profile of the mechanical switches also helps since the less the key travels, the better the noise reduction, especially under hard key presses.

Battery

Logitech states that the G515 TKL lasts up to 36 hours of continuous play over its 2.4-GHz wireless connection with the backlighting at full brightness and up to 600 hours with the backlighting turned off. Once you enter the G Hub, though, under the battery level, the remaining hours of use are depicted as well, so you don’t have to guess. While using the Lightspeed Receiver with RGB enabled and the battery level at 99%, the remaining use time was 164 hours, and with the max charge, it would reach up to 166 with the current configuration.

  1. Thanks for the review.
Maybe i have missed it but can you configure on the Logitech app a profile / color scheme ; save it ; uninstall/shutdown the app and have all the advantages from the previous setting.
This piss me off on Steelserie and Razer to not have on board memory for RGB…
