During the second half of September 2025, we were in China, meeting again with our friends and making new ones. We also had the opportunity to visit several manufacturers (factories), and it is always interesting to see how products are made.
Now that I am back at my home base, I need to catch up on dozens of reviews to get back on track. I almost regret it every time I leave for so long, but I also have to visit factories and talk to industry professionals—the ones who actually take care of everything behind the scenes.
So let’s get on with the photographs and some of our moments in this fantastic trip.
Great Wall – Shenzhen
The first city in our China trip was Shenzhen, a brand-new city, and one of the most developed (and expensive) in China.
Our first factory visit was at the Great Wall’s factory and HQ in Shenzhen. Here we are posing along with our friends at GW’s reception. There’s a lot of interesting stuff to see in this factory, and this is my third visit there! We discussed future projects, and I also had several interesting discussions with engineers on testing procedure subjects.
ShenZhen RUISHENGYUAN Technology CO., LTD. [RSY] (深圳市瑞声元科技有限公司) Visit – Shenzhen
On the second day of our trip to China, we visited RSY’s factory and HQs. For those of you not aware of this manufacturer, they were behind several Super Flower PSUs during the glory days, when SF was extremely close with EVGA. The same factory also made some Seasonic models and currently handles PSUs from Enermax, Antec, and XPG (Pymcore). The head of R&D was a student of Mr. Lau, Super Flower’s principal engineer, who had designed the famous Leadex models.
Segotep – Huizhou City
On the third day of our trip, we visited Segotep’s factory and headquarters in Huizhou City, Guangdong Province. The building is new, and what left a great impression on us was the power supply museum that Segotep has there! This is the first time I’ve seen a PSU museum, and I couldn’t hide my excitement.
Looking at some important historical facts that either created or pushed the PSU technology!
Holding Thor’s hammer!
Apple claimed that it invented the first Switching Mode Power Supply (SMPS) for the Apple II, but this is not accurate. It was one of the first, but not the first, to use switching mode technology. Here is a valuable resource on this topic.
The famous Apple II computer, along with all of its original accessories and manuals! Even a joystick!
Seqotep’s PSU museum also had the PSU used in the first IBM PCs!
The history of the PC Power Specification (ATX spec).
Cybenetics and its ratings have a place in the museum!
Segotep’s EMI testing capabilities are interesting! Especially the radiated!
Fan testing in Segotep’s HQs. No, they don’t use a Longwin fan testing apparatus, but an instrument by another manufacturer.
Jiumeng Electronic Technology Co., Ltd. – Shenzhen
Next stop on our trip was Jiumeng, the OEM behind the Zalman PSUs, also handling several other brands. I saw a Seasonic Core 850W (Bronze) model on the production line during my visit!
Great Wall Factory – Guilin
Great Wall belongs to the Chinese government, so it has unlimited resources and capabilities. Its factory in Guilin is new and simply amazing! This was my second visit there, and I am always excited to have the opportunity to see such advanced production lines (and wonderful people!)
The Corsair RMx Shift are made here, along with some Asus PSU models.
Guilin Visit
Guilin, located in southern China’s Guangxi region, is renowned for its breathtaking karst landscapes, lush rivers, and misty limestone peaks that have inspired poets and painters for centuries. The city is famous for its scenic Li River, where dramatic mountains rise straight out of the water, as well as attractions such as Elephant Trunk Hill, Reed Flute Cave, and the Longji Rice Terraces. Blending natural beauty with rich cultural heritage, Guilin is one of China’s most picturesque and iconic travel destinations.
Balloon and boat rides, electric scooters, and visiting top-of-the-mountain places. Guilin was super fun, and the most important thing was the nice company that we had!
