New AMD & NVIDIA GPUs Spotted in Asus Booth

We would like to thank the FSP group for their sponsorship of CES 2025

During our visit to the Asus booth during CES 2025, we spotted the new GPUs by AMD and NVIDIA. More specifically, the TUF Radeon RX 9070 models and the TUF RTX 5090/80/70 models.

The power input in these graphics cards left a massive impression on me. While NVIDIA uses a single 12V-2×6 socket on all new GPUs, AMD remains at the aged 6+2 PCIe socket, with Asus using three of these sockets in the RX 9070 XT card! This looks weird and, I dare to say, outdated! I believe it is high time for AMD to decide to move on and trust the 12+4 pin connector. With 12V-2×6, most issues that some users had with the 12VHPWR connector are now ironed out, so there is no need to have so many cables messing with the chassis airflow going through the GPU while a single one will do the job just fine! Just saying AMD 🙂
