FSP MEGA TI PSU Series: A New High-Efficiency Power Supply

FSP has unveiled its latest high-performance PSU lineup, the MEGA TI series, featuring 1350W and 1650W models. Aimed at power users, gamers, and content creators, these new units adhere to Intel’s ATX 3.1 standards, ensuring support for 200% power excursion and dual PCIe 12V-2×6 connectors for next-gen GPU compatibility.

Industry Context: The Power Race Heats Up

With the increasing power demands of high-end graphics cards, PSU manufacturers are pushing efficiency and stability to new levels. Nvidia’s RTX 4000/5000 series and AMD’s latest GPUs require stable high-wattage power delivery, making Cybenetics Titanium certifications more relevant than ever. FSP’s latest offering directly competes with Corsair’s AX series, Seasonic’s Prime TX, and ASUS’s ROG Thor, all targeting enthusiasts who demand premium efficiency and low-noise operation.

Balancing Power and Efficiency

At the heart of the MEGA TI series is Interleaved PFC topology combined with Infineon MOSFETs and SiC diodes, promising ultra-tight voltage regulation (±0.5%)—a key selling point in high-performance rigs. With a fully modular design and a 135mm zero RPM fluid dynamic bearing fan, FSP prioritizes airflow and silence, which are crucial for high-end users. The 1650W model holds a Cybenetics LAMBDA 230V A++ certification, offering best-in-class acoustic performance.

The Ethical Dilemma: The Price of Power

While higher-wattage PSUs are necessary for power-hungry gaming rigs and workstations, they also raise concerns about energy consumption and sustainability. The move towards more efficient Titanium-rated units is a step in the right direction, but the industry still faces the challenge of balancing performance with energy responsibility.

Additionally, the rise of AI-powered workloads—from OpenAI’s ChatGPT models to machine learning tasks running on RTX 4090 setups—has created a new wave of power demand. With data centers and home users requiring higher wattage and stable efficiency, manufacturers like FSP, Seasonic, and EVGA are racing to meet these needs.

A Worthy Contender?

FSP’s MEGA TI series enters the market at a time when high-wattage, ultra-efficient PSUs are more critical than ever. Priced at $399 (1350W) and $459 (1650W), it competes with industry leaders while introducing features like enhanced durability (conformal coating) and compact dimensions (180mm depth).

For enthusiasts who demand cutting-edge performance and energy efficiency, the FSP MEGA TI series could be a strong contender in the high-end PSU market—provided it delivers on its efficiency claims under real-world workloads.

  1. Hi Aris. Do you have any idea when FSP’s MEGA TI 1650w will be available? I know you were impressed with the Hydro Ti Pro 1000w and I bought that about a year ago. It has worked well but I’ve recently been fortunate enough to get a MSI SUPRIM SOC 5090 and that should arrive late next week. I originally thought I would use the Hydro Ti Pro for that system but I thought I understood you to say that it would be most ideal to have your system’s total power draw be in the 40-50% range of your PSU’s capacity. I’m using a 9800X3D with 64 GB DDR, two WDC NvME SSDs, a Be Quiet 360mm Light Loop AIO and a boat load of 140mm fans at low RPM. Thanks very much for your thoughts!
