Apple & Broadcom Forge Multibillion-Dollar Deal for U.S.-Made 5G Components

Strengthening U.S. Manufacturing and Connectivity Innovation

Apple has announced a significant multiyear, multibillion-dollar agreement with Broadcom, a leading U.S. technology and manufacturing company. The partnership focuses on developing cutting-edge 5G radio frequency components, including FBAR filters, which will be designed and built within American manufacturing hubs like Fort Collins, Colorado.

“We’re thrilled to make commitments that harness the ingenuity, creativity, and innovative spirit of American manufacturing,” said Tim Cook, Apple’s CEO. “All of Apple’s products depend on technology engineered and built here in the United States, and we’ll continue to deepen our investments in the U.S. economy because we have an unshakable belief in America’s future.”

Broadcom’s Fort Collins facility, already a hub for FBAR filter production, employs over 1,100 people. This new agreement will support further investment in automation and workforce development, including technician and engineering roles.

Apple’s economic impact extends across the U.S., supporting over 2.7 million jobs through direct employment, the thriving iOS app economy, and partnerships with more than 9,000 domestic suppliers. These efforts span all 50 states across numerous sectors.

Driving 5G Innovation

5G technology has been a game-changer for consumer electronics, and Apple has positioned itself at the forefront of this transformation. Since introducing 5G-enabled devices in 2020, Apple has invested tens of billions of dollars to advance the technology and accelerate its adoption. This new collaboration with Broadcom aligns with Apple’s broader commitment to fostering innovation and job creation in the U.S.

Delivering on Promises

The deal is part of Apple’s 2021 pledge to invest $430 billion in the U.S. economy over five years. With initiatives like this, Apple is on track to meet its target through spending on American suppliers, data center investments, and other domestic expenditures.

As 5G coverage continues to expand globally, Apple’s efforts are driving faster connectivity and more robust performance for users upgrading to 5G-enabled products, further shaping the future of consumer technology.
