Thanks to my good friend at Galax, Ronaldo from TecLab Brazil, I also have the RTX 5070 on the test bench. Read the full review to learn more about the new features of the RTX 50 line and the RTX 5070 performance and how it compares to the RTX 4070 Super and the RTX 5070 Ti.
The RTX 5070 is the most budget-friendly, if you can even call it that, given the insane street prices at the time of the review, of the RTX 50 family until the RTX 5060 and 5050 are released. Although the RTX 5070 was supposed to have an MSRP of $550, the first available stock was sold at prices exceeding $650 and up to $720. However, besides the notably higher street prices, the worst is that the 5070 is far away from the performance of the 4090, although NV claimed the opposite. To experienced users, this makes sense, since besides a powerful GPU, the RTX 4090 also has 24GB of VRAM, while the 5070 only has 12GB, which are not enough for some games at high resolutions. NV’s marketing tried to sell a crazy story to the future buyers of the 5070, but “forgot” to mention that only with multi-frame generation can the 5070 follow the 4090, which is not truly an equal performance. AI tricks might increase frames but the game’s response and latency remain unchanged.
I know that marketing has often pushed reality to new dimensions, but having NV’s CEO announce that the RTX 5070 will be as fast as the RTX 4090, the previous flagship graphics card, goes to a whole other level. The next time I hear Jensen Huang, NV’s CEO, announcing something so pompous, I will ignore him since I will know now that he is probably lying.
The tables below show the specs of the RTX 50/40 series, AMD and Intel models.
