Hey guys, here is a peculiar issue with 5090:
Everyone says that it is better to use the squid cable instead of 12VHPWR. So you need 4 pcie cables from the psu. Thing is, my psu only has three cables in the box and it's impossible to find an extra one from the manufacturer or shops.
So the question is: can i use a pcie cable i.e. from corsair with my gigabyte psu?
But here comes the crazy part: most psus on sale atm include fewer than 4 cables, based on a small survey i did. I think you need to go to more expensive models to have more (300$+).
PSUs from different brands (and OEMs) can be NON compatible electrically, so it is not safe to use cables from other PSUs. Only the 12VHPWR is electrically compatible.
