Hi, I'm building a water-cooled AI PC with two RTX 5090s in it. Meaning, with a 300-400W CPU I'll be at the top end, or perhaps a bit above the 1600W of a "standard" PSU. All larger PSUs I found were 240V, and I only have 120V.

So, my question is whether having two PSUs would be okay and what are the pitfalls?

The plan is to get a 1600W and give it a go. If the overload protection kicks in then we add a second PSU.  Is that a bad idea?

1600W won't be enough under full load(s). You can use two PSUs, but you will dramatically increase power consumption at light (lower) loads.
