Sony PlayStation 5 Pro: Performance, Part Analysis, Power Consumption & Noise

Noise Output

Testing Equipment:
  • Noise Test Environment: Hemi-Anechoic Chamber with 6 dB(A) noise floor
  • Conditions: 25 (+-2) degrees Celsius, 40-50% humidity
  • Sound Analyzer: Bruel & Kjaer 2270-S G4
  • Microphone: Bruel & Kjaer Type 4955-A
  • Mic Calibrator:  Bruel & Kjaer Type 4231
  • Data Logger: Picoscope TC-08

The PS5 Pro is less noisy, only at IDLE. In all games I tested, its noise output was higher than that of the PS5, which uses a larger fan. Nonetheless, noise output is notably below 30 dBA, and given that the console is 2-3 meters away from you, it won’t be annoying in most usage scenarios.

  • 2d peak frequency: 400 Hz

The PS5 Pro’s noise might be higher, but there is no fan-bearing noise, which is evident in this “plain” PS5. Although the latter has two years of operation, it was meticulously cleaned before the testing sessions.
