Intel Core Ultra 9 285K CPU Review: Performance, Thermals & Power Analysis

Rendering – Blender

I use the BMW 27 scene in Blender.

The performance in blender is good, not far from the flagship AMD processor.

Rendering – Cinebench R23

High scores in Cinebench R23. The CPU achieved even higher scores in the Extreme Performance profile, which you will find in the screenshot below.

Extreme Performance Profile

Rendering – Cinebench 2024

Very good scores in CineBench 2024.

Media Encoding

I converted a 4K video to HD format with 30 frames per second using Handbrake and three different compression algorithms.

It has strong media encoding performance, but the 9950X keeps its lead.

Puget Benchmarks

Puget is a PC-building company specializing in video editing systems. To evaluate its systems, Puget has created several benchmark tests for popular video and photo editing applications. It has also been kind enough to provide free (and paid) versions of its products to the rest of the world.

In Photoshop, the 9950x is notably ahead, but the 285K takes the lead in Premiere.
