Intel Core Ultra 9 285K CPU Review: Performance, Thermals & Power Analysis

Overall & Gaming Performance

The relative performance isn’t far from the 13900K so the performance gap will be even smaller with the 14900K. The high Performance per Watt score makes an impression, though, taking the lead from the AMD Ryzen 9 9950x.

Without gaming in the way, the 285K is close to the 13900K and not that far from the 9950x in overall performance. But it does pretty well in Performance per Watt.

In gaming, the 285K is only slightly better than the 13900K and very close to the 9950x. Its Performance per Watt score is good, though, if you don’t consider the impressive performance of the 7800X3D.

The CPU’s price is high at 590 dollars, so it performs poorly in these tests. But the Ryzen 9 9950x scores even lower, thanks to its price exceeding 700 dollars (at the time of the review)!

In this chart, the 285K scores well, but the 13900K, with its lower price, is notably better. However, you should consider the high power consumption of 13900K, which means you will have to pay way more for electricity.
