Overall & Gaming Performance
The relative performance is far from the 7800X3D and close enough to the high-end Intel CPUs. The 7800X3D’s price was $470 at the time of the review, so its performance per price was low in the “All CPU Tests” chart.
Without gaming in the way, the performance gap between the 9800X3D and the 7800X3D widens. However, this is also the case for the 9800X3D and the rest of the processors.
In the performance per price chart, the 7800X3D scores last since I removed its primary advantage, gaming performance. On the contrary, the 9800X3D achieves second place, showing that it can be competitive even if you don’t use it exclusively for gaming.
In gaming, the 9800X3D takes first place, followed by the 7800X3D. The latter, though, achieves a higher performance per Watt score thanks to its lower power consumption.
