Noctua NF-P14s redux-1200 PWM 140mm Fan Review

Box, Contents & Bundle

The box lacks photos of the product, instead featuring the model number and a sticker on the back side that displays the technical specs. The same sticker has a tiny image of the fan! What matters most is that it offers sufficient protection to the product.

The fan features nine blades. The blade tips have a significant distance from the fan’s frame, so I expect a considerable leakage flow, which decreases the fan’s efficiency. Given the relatively low maximum rotation speed, the fan blade tips could have a smaller distance from the fan’s frame. Moreover, if you want rubber anti-vibration pads, you will have to pay extra, which is a bummer! Noctua sells the NA-SAVP1 Anti-Vibration Pads for $ 10 per pack of 16. I didn’t find a package containing only four of these for a single fan.

According to Noctua, the fan blades are specifically developed for high-impedance applications such as CPU coolers and AIO radiators. The static pressure readings will show that. The notches shown above, according to Noctua, are Vortex-Control notches which split up the trailing edge vortices and spread the fan’s noise over a broader range of frequencies, making the fan’s noise less annoying to users.

The connector is a standard 4-pin PWM. The daisy chain option is not available, and there is no PWM splitter in the bundle. The same fan is available with a 3-pin connector, costing the same, so it doesn’t make any sense not to go for the PWM version.
