Epilogue
This was a pleasant surprise for FSP, which entered the world of high-end air cooling with an affordable but competent product, the MP7 ARGB. The performance of the AMD socket is excellent, and users nowadays prefer AMD CPUs to Intel ones, especially for gaming. Times change fast; I remember previous times when it was the opposite. Not everything is perfect, though, in the AMD ecosystem. Look at the following article before deciding on your next CPU upgrade.
Back to the subject of today’s review. The FSP MP7 RGB is a high-performance cooler that won’t empty your wallet. Although it follows the dual-tower design, its dimensions are not massive, so most mainboards won’t have a problem accommodating it. The same goes for most ATX chassis. At 25 dBA noise output, which is low enough not to annoy most users but still high enough to offer decent performance, the super-expensive Noctua NH-D15 G2 is 4% away in overall performance, and the Peerless Assassin 140 Black 2.5% higher. At full speed, the MP7 has a slight lead over the Peerless Assassin and the performance difference with the G2 drops to 3.2%, but the FSP cooler’s noise output is close to 40 dBA at full speed, while the other two, Noctua and Thermalright, are way lower, 36.6 dBA and 32.7 dBA respectively.
If you don’t care much about RGB lighting and don’t have an issue with the enormous dimensions of the Peerless Assassin, then you should go for it since it offers higher performance and lower noise output. On the other hand, if you need a more compact cooler with higher quality, RGB, fans, then the MP7 is a better choice.
If you are searching for fans for your AIO or chassis, read my Best Cooling Fans article before investing in new cooling solutions. You help me a lot by using my affiliate links, which don’t increase the product’s price. I get a commission from Amazon every time you do it, which can make a difference for me, especially now that I am on my own, working exclusively for my media and not for someone else.
