Alphacool Core 4000RPM 120mm Fan Review – Affordable Speed Demon

Box, Contents & Bundle

This part of the review is easy, since the fan came in a plain white box without any accessories inside, but only the fan itself.

The fan features seven pretty large blades. The blade tips have a pretty significant distance from the fan’s frame, so I expect a considerable leakage flow, which decreases the fan’s efficiency. It is not easy, though, to keep a small fan blade tip clearance at high speeds, and it would increase the production cost. Moreover, to further reduce the price, there are no anti-vibration pads in the fan’s corners. All in all, the build quality is decent but not outstanding.

The fan has the standard depth of 25mm.

The connector is a standard 4-pin PWM. The daisy chain option is not available, and there is no PWM splitter in the bundle. Even if there were, I would advise against it because this fan has high power consumption, making it not ideal to have two at the same PWM header.

  1. And again, the Alphacool Core 4000RPM 120mm is not only 3 times cheaper than the Noctua NF-A12x25 G2 but also better as a radiator fan.
