Qualcomm’s upcoming Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset, set to power devices like the Samsung Galaxy S25, is already making waves. Leaked benchmark tests show the chip scoring a record-breaking 3,025,991 on AnTuTu—a performance leap that outshines both Apple’s A18 Pro and MediaTek’s Dimensity 9400.
Historically, Apple’s processors have had the upper hand regarding raw power, but this year’s tests suggest a significant shift. The Snapdragon 8 Elite, previously known as Snapdragon 8 Gen 4, is rumored to come in two versions: a base model with two cores running at 4.09 GHz and a high-end version with two cores reaching 4.32 GHz. Both models will feature the powerful Adreno 830 GPU and are built using TSMC’s advanced 3nm process.

Benchmark scores show that the Snapdragon 8 Elite is far ahead of its competition, including Apple’s A18 Pro, which managed a score of around 1.65 million. In comparison, MediaTek’s latest Dimensity 9400 hit around 2.8 million. On Geekbench 6, another cross-platform benchmark test, the Snapdragon 8 Elite achieved 3,260 points in the single-core test and 10,051 in the multi-core test, again beating Apple’s A18 Pro.
Despite different testing methods, the Snapdragon 8 Elite’s results suggest a significant performance boost over Qualcomm’s previous chips and fierce competition with Apple. While real-world performance may not always reflect these benchmark results, it’s clear the gap between Android and iPhone chips is narrowing with each generation.
The Snapdragon 8 Elite will be officially announced soon, and the Samsung Galaxy S25 will be one of the first flagship phones to feature the new chip. Other major brands, such as Xiaomi and OnePlus, are also expected to release devices with the Snapdragon 8 Elite later this year.
