Montech Titan Gold 850W PSU Review

The Montech Titan Gold 850W achieves high performance, offering also a silent operation. This is a fully ATX v3.0 compliant power supply, so it won’t have a problem handling newer generation GPUs with 12+4 pin sockets. 

I have already reviewed the Montech Titan Gold 1200W and 1000W, so I couldn’t leave the 850W family member out. Montech is a new brand trying to enter the tough PSU, chassis, and cooling markets. In PSUs, they have done quite well since they cooperated with CWT (Channel Well Technology) and recently initiated cooperation with Seasonic.

The Montech Titan Gold 850W has normal dimensions for its capacity, and it comes with a 12VHPWR connector, which will soon be replaced by a 12V-2×6 which is more user-friendly. You can read more about the new connector here. If you buy a PSU with a 12VHPWR on its modular panel, as is the case for the current Montech Titan Gold 850W units, you will still be able to get a new cable with a 12V-2×6 on the GPU side, which is more secure than the existing 12VHPWR cables. Otherwise, if you want a cable with 12V-2×6 on both sides, you should wait for newer revisions, but the problem is that most brands will silently upgrade their PSUs to the new connectors to avoid the unsold older stock.

All Montech Titan Gold units are made by CWT, utilizing a slightly modified CSZ platform. This platform is trendy since it offers ATX v3.0 compatibility and good performance without breaking the bank.
