Average Noise

The average noise is pretty high, as you can see in the charts above.

Fan Noise & Speed Maps @ 28-32 °C – 115V

The semi-passive operation lasts up to 300W with a minimal load on the minor rails, but as expected, with higher loads on the minor rails, the fan’s semi-passive operation is shorter. There is also a region at 250-290W at 12V and with more than 50W on the minor rails, where the fan’s speed goes wild, with the noise even exceeding 40 dBA for a short period. This is why I am not fond of semi-passive operation, but I prefer the fan to spin with its speed constantly regulated according to the thermal load, avoiding heat built-up at the PSU’s internals.

Fan Noise & Speed Maps @ 28-32 °C – 230V

The 230V fan noise profile is similar to the 115V one.
