Xiaomi Unleashes Redmi K80 Ultra and K Pad: Flagship Power Meets Aggressive Pricing

Xiaomi’s sub-brand Redmi just fired a warning shot across the smartphone and tablet markets with the launch of its new Redmi K80 Ultra and Redmi K Pad. Armed with the powerful Dimensity 9400+ chipset, massive batteries, and sleek designs, both devices offer a flagship experience without the premium price tag.

Redmi K80 Ultra: A New Flagship Killer Rises

Known internally as the Redmi K80 Extreme Edition, the K80 Ultra positions itself between the standard K80 and the Pro model, but with a more gamer-centric DNA. It boasts a 6.83-inch OLED display pushing a buttery smooth 144Hz refresh rate, peak brightness of 3,200 nits, and an ultrasonic fingerprint sensor. Selfie fans will appreciate the crisp 20MP front camera.

Under the hood lies MediaTek’s top-tier Dimensity 9400+ processor, paired with up to 16GB LPDDR5X RAM and 1TB of UFS 4.1 storage. That’s serious power, comparable to Xiaomi’s most premium flagships.

Battery life won’t be a problem either, thanks to a 7,410mAh silicon-carbon battery with 100W wired charging and bypass charging support—ideal for long gaming sessions. And although there’s no wireless charging, the IP68 rating adds peace of mind.

On the back, the camera setup features a 50MP Light Fusion 800 main sensor and an 8MP ultrawide lens. It’s not a photography powerhouse, but more than capable for everyday use.

Redmi K Pad: Compact, Powerful, and Built for Gaming

Making its debut alongside the Redmi K80 Ultra is the Redmi K Pad, a powerful new 8.8-inch compact tablet designed for gamers and media consumers. With its 165Hz IPS LCD, 3K resolution, and ultra-slim 6.46mm metal unibody, the K Pad offers both style and substance.

Powered by the same Dimensity 9400+ chip, the tablet features up to 16GB of RAM and 1TB of storage. It includes a 12,050mm² vapor chamber to maintain optimal temperatures during high-performance gaming.

Another standout feature? Two USB-C ports—one on the side and one on the bottom—make it easier to charge while gaming or multitasking.

The 7,500mAh battery supports 67W fast charging, and the device features a 13MP rear camera and an 8MP front camera.

Redmi K Pad Pricing in China:

  • 12GB + 256GB – CNY 2,799 (~$390)

Flagship Performance Without the Flagship Price

With the K80 Ultra and K Pad, Xiaomi is delivering serious performance in sleek packages, and at prices that undercut much of the premium competition. The K80 Ultra, in particular, appears poised to become a go-to choice for gamers and power users seeking flagship hardware at a mid-range price. Whether these devices will launch globally or remain exclusive to China remains to be seen.
