Seasonic is addressing the issue of overheating and melting 12+4-pin power connectors in its next-generation Prime power supplies. At Computex 2025, the company showcased a prototype featuring integrated sensors, a microcontroller, and firmware designed to monitor and manage power delivery to graphics cards. This system aims to detect unbalanced loads that can lead to voltage and current spikes, the primary causes of connector overheating and potential damage to GPUs.
The new Prime PSUs will continuously monitor the temperature and current of the 12+4-pin connectors. If abnormal conditions are detected, the system will alert users through an external device, allowing them to take corrective action before any damage occurs. This proactive approach is intended to prevent the common issue of connector melting, which the high power demands of modern GPUs have exacerbated.
Seasonic’s initiative responds to widespread concerns over the reliability of the 12+4 pin connector, particularly following incidents with NVIDIA’s RTX 50 and 40 series GPUs. These events highlighted the risks of improper connections and the lack of real-time monitoring in existing power supplies. Seasonic aims to enhance user safety and prevent costly hardware failures by incorporating real-time monitoring and alert systems.
Integrating these advanced monitoring features into power supplies is a significant step forward in addressing the challenges of high-performance computing components. As the industry continues to push the boundaries of GPU power requirements, solutions like Seasonic’s next-generation Prime PSUs could become standard in ensuring the safety and longevity of gaming and professional computing systems.

Any news as to when this might come out…? Wonder if it’ll be on the market for the typical “end of year” build window, or more like next year… 🤔
Glad to see COMPUTEX 2025 had many PSU design like side swifting power cable like Lianli RS, Micronics Wizmax Swing and Gamdias THOR P2, also small size big power like FSP Dagger PM SFX/L, XPG Pymcore, Lianli SP, Seasonic Core Dual, Deepcool PS, Raijintek Cerios also Thermaltake SFX, can’t wait all of these review on HWBusters, also full of a year of Cybenetics certifications 😂
ha ha it will be a crazy period once I get back to the lab.
I hope you’re always stay well and healthy, because these days a lot of PSU maker getting switch to Cybenetics and trust with it than another certification.
